Thanksgiving has come and gone all too quickly. Happy to say I was NOT one of the rabid shoppers out looking for a bargain at 4:00 AM. I welcome the Christmas season, though I am feeling different about the holiday season than I did last year. I haven't done much shopping at all. Seriously cut down my list of who to shop for, and how much to spoil each person. I'm good with that, but it is a turning point and a lesson for me.
You ever heard of the book "The Five Love Languages"? One of my love languages, the way I SHOW love, is giving gifts. Now the book will tell you there's nothing wrong with that, and it doesn't have to be pricey things. I can spend 99 cents on a card for someone I love, and feel so good that they're getting surprise snail mail the next day. I can make a gift free of charge and feel good about that too. I like to give gifts. So cutting back at Christmas has been a challenge for me so far.
At this point I am done shopping for Isaiah, Sierra and Daniel. I haven't gotten a thing for Baby yet. He doesn't need much of anything as far as toys go, but Santa MUST come through with something, or big brother Isaiah will wonder why the little tyke was forgotten.
Above is a picture of Elijah helping with green bean casserole on Thanksgiving Day. He ate the cold green beans right out of the dish, and had cream of mushroom soup all over the counter and himself. As much as I wanted to keep it clean, I reminded myself that this is what memories are made of! He won't remember a clean countertop - he'll remember that Mommy let him mix!
So it's Friday, and for once I've remember Friday Fill-Ins on the right day!
1. My stomach is still full from Thanksgiving at Barb's!
2. Sweet potato casserole is what I ate the most of on Thursday.
3. The yard needs work. What else can I say about that?
4. At home with my boys is where I'd rather be at any given time.
5. The smell of pumpkin pie reminds me of my Mom.
6. A million dollars is what I need right now!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching "Emma" from Netflix, tomorrow my plans include going to see my Dad for his 60th birthday, and Sunday, I want to do nothing.
